The Man Who Found Penicillin

                                                                SUMMARY

         Sir Alexander Fleming was very humble and modest man.He found Penicillin by chance.It saved the lives of millions of human beings.He was very hard working.He tried all his life to fight for killing germs in human body.Before the invention of penicillin,carbolic acid and sulpha drugs were used as disinfectants.These killed the germs of many diseases.But these also harmed the cells of human body.

          In 1932,Fleming suffered from bad cold.He examined his nasal liquid under the microscope.He discovered an substance.It destroyed microbes.He called it Lysozyme.Then Fleming discovered pencilillin by chance.He was examining some productions in his laboratory.He looked at the production under the microscope.Suddenly a mould spore dropped on the plate from somewhere.The mould began to grow.The microbes began to die.It was a great discovery.

       Fleming planted the mould on the meat broth.It grew on surface.It turned the broth yellow.He tested the fluid after one week.He wanted to find its anti-bacterial properties.His discovery of penicillin brought him numerous respects.He shared the Nobel Prize for medicine in 1945 with hid fellow bacteriologists Dr.E.D. chain and Dr.H.W. Floery.But Fleming did not take the honour for the discovery of Penicillin.He said that the honour should go to nature.He said that he had discovered by chance.Fleming said,"Penicillin is not the greatest drug.The discovery of penicillin has stimulated new research to find something better."Fleming died in 1955.But the invention of penicillin has made his name immortal.He was really a great man.
